Dave Matthews came out with a new album on Friday – Walk Around the Moon.
Honestly, the album is a lot. I don’t want to get too in the weeds here; you’re here for dog content, not for my complex and inflated views on the best band to ever grace our ears. But really, the first thing I thought when I listened to the new album was “awe man, Dave Matthews got old!” (and apparently I wasn’t the only person who thought this – check out the NYT headline).
So anyway, in honor of this momentous occasion, I’m going to share with you which Dave Matthews song each dog would be if they were a Dave Matthews song.
Lila – “Ant Marching”
She’s a classic. She might be a little annoying at times, but we always go back for more.
Charlie – “Alligator Pie”
The reasoning here is simple: it’s the only Dave song I could think of that mentions food so heavily. And Charlie loves pie.
Owen – “Big Eyed Fish”
The most manic Dave Matthews song, on the craziest album he’s ever made. This was a no-brainer for me. Sorry Owen. Sorry Dave.
Pilot – “Don’t Drink the Water”
This song is all about imperialism and ruling with an iron fist. Sure, it might also be about the damage that can be done with this style of leadership, but it’s also about the blind eye that’s turned in the process. It’s also without a doubt one of the absolute best songs in the DMB oeuvre.
Hero – “You and Me”
Classic. Full of love. Optimistic to a fault.
